I have signed up with the Jamaica Plain Open Studios tour this year. If you are in the area, please stop by and say hi!!
Love Art? See Art. Meet Artists!
The 21st Jamaica Plain Open Studios takes place on September 20-21, 2014
Looking for a way to spend a few hours, a day or a whole beautiful autumn weekend browsing art, meeting artists and neighbors and generally having an awesome time?
Well, look no further. Come and check out this year's Jamaica Plain Open Studios, one of the most neighborhood and family friendly open studios around. We have been introducing audiences and artists to each other and giving people a chance to see behind the canvas for over 20 years.
Often called one of the most Family Friendly arts events, The Jamaica Plain Open Studios (JPOS) is an annual celebration of the arts in Jamaica Plain that gives the public and artists an opportunity to connect, converse and deal in art works.
The Jamaica Plain Open Studios (JPOS) is an annual celebration of the arts in Jamaica Plain that gives the public and artists an opportunity to connect, converse and deal in art works. A volunteer-driven event, JPOS takes place in artists' homes and studios as well as group sites and businesses throughout Jamaica Plain.
JPOS reflects the vibrancy and diversity of our neighborhood, and strengthens a dynamic community of artists, patrons, and supporters. Artists network with each other, meet an enthusiastic audience, display and sell work, and have fun!
I'm going through old posts and images to clean up the blog while preparing myself for the next art show this September... and came across this old post from August 2010
it struck me hard as I have been listening to "heavy in your arms" by Florence and the Machine on repeat a lot recently... I can't help but FEEL the notes, they resonate with me and now I may know why...
I created the art piece before the music. :)
I only wish I was listening to the song while creating it.
I am participating in a fundraiser for Sam's Voice:
Sam’s Voice was started in January 2012 by a New Jersey family whose youngest son has Autism and Apraxia. In April 2012, Hagrid, an
Autism Service Dog, came into their lives and has been a miracle for
them. Sam's Voice was founded to raise money for Heeling Autism, which
helps fund Autism service dogs for families, and also to help raise
awareness about Austim & Austism service dogs. This is a remarkably brave
family that has made the difficult choice to out their story in the
public eye to help other families in similar situations, and I'm honored
to be giving a portion of proceeds from this show to Sam's Voice! To hear more about Sam's voice, please visit the website at http://samsvoice.org/ And make sure to like them on Facebook! http://facebook.com/samsvoicehelpingtoputthepiecestogether
